Our Transitions North program offers a range of academic and social/emotional support for students with high needs due, in part, to fetal alcohol exposure. We are the only school board in Ontario to offer the programming.
As a team, we focus on closing the developmental and academic gaps using the Ontario Curriculum guidelines, along with alternative programming. Student plans are individualized based on the students’ strengths and needs.
We currently have three Transitions North Programs at the following schools:
The Transitions North program is a unique partnership between the Ontario Ministry of Education and the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board and is considered a Section 23 classroom (specialized programming for students in ‘care, treatment, custody and correctional facilities’ who are unable to attend a regular day school).
Our Transitions North classrooms provide unprecedented programing for our most vulnerable students and the Ministry of Education is a supportive partner.
