The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board proudly accepts responsibility for being one of the first school boards in Ontario to establish a voluntary self-identification policy for First Nation, Metis, and Inuit students.
Using Indigenous self-identification data the KPDSB is able to actively monitor the achievement and areas of need of Indigenous students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. As a result of utilizing information and data through self-identification the KPDSB can allocate targeted resources in particular areas most needed by Indigenous students.
At present, approximately 53% percent of the students in the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board have been voluntarily self- identified as Indigenous.
